    Princess Lover

    Erm….

    Princess Lover

Princess Lover turns all serious business suddenly, with nuclear weapons and dirty underground organizations in the play. Oh wow, I never would’ve expected this coming from the show so far, especially with the so totally non-serious hot spring episode last week.

    Princess Lover

Man…. the look on those guys really doesn’t bode well, does it? I mean, holy shit TERRORISTS!

  • Negima! 261
By Admin on August 24th, 2009 | No Comments Comments

    Negima

Ah, finally back after another hiatus week. This time focusing on Natsumi and Ku Fei.

    Negima

    Negima

Awwwww… Natsumi-neechan’s jealous. I guess this is one thing I like about Negima, on how Akamatsu balances the class with attractive and much more ‘normal’ girls and still achieves a very nice balance of character development with both. Of course it’s mostly skewed towards the main Ala-Alba group, but moments like this are pretty enjoyable too.

    Negima

    Ouch. Kotarou. Ouch.

And we suspend Natsumi’s spotlight for next week, while we move on to this week’s main act, Ku Fei.

    Negima

    Negima

    Heh, arm wrestling challenge huh.

    Negima

“We can’t just start a fight in this place…” yeah right. So damaging the hall’s floor is okay instead?

    Negima

    Negima

Predictably, Negi wins. I mean, he’s already pretty much one of the highest tier characters in the manga in terms of strength ranking…

    Negima

    Finally, the Ku Fei Pactio!

    Negima

I sure hope that’s not the Nyoi-bon there she’s going to use. And I’m really gonna LOL if the series ends with Negi x Ku Fei….

Now I wonder, what kind of Artifact is gonna appear between Kotarou and Natsumi….

  • Koromo is such a good girl ;_;
By Admin on August 24th, 2009 | No Comments Comments

Oh dear god why is Koromo such a good girl ;_;. Episode 20’s flashback seriously upped her moe points for me, and added the “good girl” trait to her. Plus HOW CAN YOU RESIST SUCH CUTENESS!

    Saki

Also, is it just me or did the quality of the animation drop drastically this episode. There was like some weird faces and camera angles this episode.

And Saki’s older sister seems to be in a team of haughty bitches forced to cooperate with each other just because they had to. I dunno, man, where IS the manga now. Last I heard they were still doing the team tournament finals.

By Admin on August 24th, 2009 | No Comments Comments

    Hayate no Gotoku

Oh dear, Isumi makes a pretty good meido…

    Hayate no Gotoku

    Hayate no Gotoku

    Hayate no Gotoku

Especially seeing her fake smile (so viciously pointed out by Haru-san) was pretty LOL.

    Hayate no Gotoku

And speaking of which, new epic character, and also the third maid of the series (no, meido Hayate doesn’t count), Haru-san a.k.a Harukaze Chiharu of the Student Council is introduced.

    Hayate no Gotoku

And finally, just to cap everything off, meido Hayate cameo wwwwwwwwwwwwwww

By Admin on August 23rd, 2009 | No Comments Comments

If you’d thought last night’s Happy Material duet was disappointing surprising, guess what happened today….

    1 ?DISCOTHEQUE???MonStAR?/????+??? (Nana Mizuki + Hirano Aya)

    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    RAGE (? ???)
    RAGE (? ???)
    RAGE (? ???)
    RAGE (? ???)
    RAGE (? ???)

    8 ???? (Tamakui)?/???? (Yousei Teikoku)
    9 ?last Moment?/???? (Yousei Teikoku)

Woot! Yousei Teikoku~! And Tamakui performed live!

    23 ??????? (Tamashii no Refrain)?/??+???? (Faylan + Masami Okui)

Weird choice for a duet, but this sounds interesting.

    27 ?DANZEN!????????? ?ver.Max Heart??/?????+???? (Tamura Yukari + Shintani Ryoko)

Woah! Shintani Ryoko + Yukarin duet!

    … and the main highlight:

    40 ?Gimmick Game?/????+ m.o.v.e
    41 ????/????+Suara
    42 ????????/????
    43 ?Orchestral Fantasia?/????

Awesome song choices by Nana this year and I can’t wait to hear the duet between her and Suara of Shin’ai. I daresay that would be a real awesome combo. Also Etsuraku Camelia and Orchestral Fantasia combo really hit me, because those are two of my favourite Nana songs from ULTIMATE DIAMOND and GREAT ACTIVITY respectively.

Anyways, full song list for Day 2 can be found here: http://pc.animelo.jp/rebridge/whatsnew/?p=090823_set

  • DaiCon is finally over!
By Admin on July 15th, 2009 | No Comments Comments

After a year of preparation, with much hard work, blood, sweat and tears, DaiCon’s finally over. I’ve just about only finished with the hall clean-up and woke up after getting a real night’s sleep after 5 days.

I’ve gotta admit, right up til and during the event, I still had my qualms about pulling such a big event off and when the concert started I still had a feeling this is all in a dream. Now that it’s all over, and after I’ve had a good night’s rest, only it is sinking in that we did pull it off.

I’m happy that the Minorin concert went without a hitch and pretty much nearly everyone who went had good things to say about it. Of course I do realise the event wasn’t perfect and there are a great many grumblings about it (I’m not the mineral water guy in case any more retards think I am) but what’s happened has happened.

It was also great that I managed to finally meet up with tj_han and DarkMirage, both of them bloggers that I still do read and respect. Owen_S and Faye also made their way here, as well as finally getting to meet j1mone and danie. Only thing I regret was that I couldn’t actually spend a lot of time with them thanks to me having the handle the event.

Of course there’s still a ton of work to finish off, post mortems, reports and such, but I’m glad to have been part of DaiCon. I can’t really say anything about the future plans for the event now, but I sure wouldn’t mind signing up for it for a second time.

  • Tsubasa wo Kudasai for Evangelion?
By Admin on July 15th, 2009 | No Comments Comments

    Evangelion 2.0

I have to admit, that’s a pretty ecletic piece to choose for the climax of the movie, Tsubasa wo Kudasai that is.

Also I must say, the whole OST has a lack of…. EVA-ish-ness to it? I dunno, probably it’s to do with all the weird uplifting music. I like my EVA OST’s to sound a bit more oppressive I guess.

P.S. Will we ever get a full camrip? I still haven’t seen Asuka 2.0 yet ;_;. I have to admit Mari was fucking badass though.

  • High hopes for Bakemonogatari
By Admin on July 15th, 2009 | No Comments Comments

    Bakemonogatari

Fuck yeah, tsundere stationary war girl! It’s so refreshing to hear Chiwa Saitou to be voicing Senjogahara. I never knew she can put this much malice and terror in her voice.

That was a pretty awesome first episode of Bakemonogatari and the SHAFT-style, although a bit distracting at times, was quite complementary overall to the story and action at hand. Let’s just hope they don’t overdo it and go for a more acid-trip style later on.

  • Sorakake Ends
By Admin on July 15th, 2009 | No Comments Comments

    SoraKake

    Ah, finally SoraKake ends.

I have got to say, the last 6 episodes have been a real rollercoaster ride, compounded by the fact I just marathoned them all in one shot (which is generally the best way to watch ANY Sunrise show lately) and it’s really hilarious to see how the balance of power and the antagonist keep on changing over those 6 episodes, with the only constant in place being Nami as big, or even bigger, as a bitch as she is.

I especially found it funny that Imo-chan served as the final catalyst in to pushing Nerval to become good again and give up on his plan to make every human in to boxes, especially after 20 episodes of us grooming the viewers to see him as a very powerful existence with a twisted aim. The swiftness in which he makes his decision to give up that plan and finally see humans as they are is both surprisingly funny yet natural at the same time.

On the other hand, the sudden change from reluctant helper to megalomanical destroyer of Leopard was pretty unexpected and combined with the change of heart from Nerval, really did make me find it hillarious at first and then awe after it the facts sinked in. It’s pretty rare to see such switch of antagonists in any show and I’m pretty respecting of the writers to do that in Sorakake.

But… all in all, I still think that that was merely to cover the fact that there are still a lot of things unexplained yet about the whole show, such as the true meaning of the ‘Sora wo Kakeru Shoujo’ moniker, the Shishidou family (how are they related to Kagura, etc), Enigma and the Brain Colonies. Kagura also would benefit from a bit more backstory and it’s almost criminal how little airtime Takane gets :( .

Well, that just means there a big avenue left for Sunrise to start churning out a sequel or side-stories of the SoraKake universe and I’m pretty fucking sure they’ll capitalize on that sooner than later. Till then, let’s hope the Picture Dramas will reveal more background details as they come out on the Blu-Rays.
