    To Aru Kagaku no Railgun

Hmm, so J.C. Staff decided to do an original story for the second half of Railgun instead of animating the currently running “Sisters” arc in the manga. I’d say it’s a better choice than adapting it halfway and then rewriting shit, but I given the patchy record J.C. Staff has on adaptations I will pray for the best that the original story won’t be terrible.

Positively speaking, it’s good to see them focus on other aspects of the Academy City in this current arc, like the people who fail to achieve ESP powers despite running through the “curriculum”. It’s been mentioned often that the pressure is there for students to actually gain ESP powers and seeing what happens when they can’t, gives a fresh perspective to the city and makes it less… sterile.

While it does feel odd that there’s a shantytown in the middle of the city despite it being claimed to be a totally planned city, I guess it is possible for places like that to happen in any city. Hell it would probably be strange if there wasn’t a place for the bad hats to collect together in a city of 2.3 million people.

Also, with a new arc comes new OP and ED. Level 5 -Judgelight- does give off a bit of a “Gundam” feel like someone pointed out, especially with the action-packed spoiler OP animation (Damn, Mikoto and Kuroko look fucking cool here), but it’s not a bad song. Not as catchy as only my railgun, but a good song nonetheless. Yoshino Nanjou definitely can sing, that’s for sure. Not much to say about the ED… except for the weird colored outlines style they employ in the animation. Made me thought my chroma settings got fucked up or something. Oh, and…

    Gintama

Gintama 182 is probably the best fourth wall break of any anime series so far. The only other time a character killed the original author is Excel Saga, and that didn’t even come close to the level of LOL seen in this episode. Popularity polls are scary. Now I’m not surprised why there wasn’t any other for Gintama apart for the one in the ninth volume of the manga. LOL

    Bakemonogatari

Looks like they went all out since it’s not on TV broadcast, the stuff about the seiyuu (Senjougahara) and the radio show (Hanekawa) was extremely hillarious. Though I must say they rambled a bit too much on the radio show parts, hurrr. I was like, “HURRY UP AND SHOW ME YOUR CAT EARS!!!”

    Bakemonogatari

Which, by the way, looks okay on normal Hanekawa, but Black Hanekawa’s the one who’s born to wear cat eats.

    Bakemonogatari

The glasses make all the difference, y’know.

I am so looking forward to hearing evil neko-moe Hocchan next webpisode.

    Darker than Black

a.k.a as the budget-saving ‘bridge’ episode. Seriously this was such as bizzare episode I’d almost think they jumped the shark if I wasn’t prep’ed for it over the last three weeks. In any case, poor Shio-, I mean Suou.

    Darker than Black

“Why so serious? Here, let me put a smile on that deadpan mugs of the both of you!”

    Darker than Black

“Shake those hips harder!”, says Hei as he trains his personal loli in the ‘basics’.

    Darker than Black

And this is the reason why people don’t consume expired food that has been kept in dubious circumstances. Like in the freezer of a bankrupt love hotel. Anyways, Contractors are humans too, nothing shameful about getting mild food poisoning. Just don’t hold it in for so long, Suou!

    Darker than Black

Admittedly, July is probably the single most useful character in the show right now, with Petya/Mao in close second. Good to see he picked up some tips about smiling from Yin!

    Darker than Black

Is this guy gonna be the joke character of this season? Just like Kurasawa Gai in the first?

    Darker than Black

And Misaki almost gets ‘it’ from Hazuki. Oooh, yuri rape prospects huh.

Man, this season of DtB is seriously getting out of hand at times. I don’t know if they are trying to be serious or not, just like the Kurasawa Gai episodes in the original DtB. But at least the story is more consistent now that they aren’t using the two-episode format again. I just hope they don’t leave everything to the subtext like in the first season hurr.

    Umineko no Naku Koro ni

You anime-only watchers sure missed out on some really good shit now that this got spoiled. Seriously, the impact of this part when it hits you in the game is utterly devastating. I’ll admit, the anime art is much more fear-inducing though.

    Umineko no Naku Koro ni

Battler is so going to be the butt of “IT’S OVER ENDLESS NINE!!!!” jokes for a long time to come hurrr..

    Umineko no Naku Koro ni

“You’re gonna get raped!” faces from the Siestas in this episode gave me an involuntary hardon. Goddamnit!

    Umineko no Naku Koro ni

“Flying hamburger“? Fuck you, gg, FUCK YOU.

    Umineko no Naku Koro ni

Once again, the anime art is probably compensating for the rushed-ness of the story with QUALITY such as this.

Seriously, if you haven’t read the visual novel yet, make some time for it. It’ll be well worth the time spent!

I might actually watch this if there was a Japanese audio track. Note, “might”.
