  • Dropping Omamori Himari
By Admin on January 16th, 2010 | No Comments Comments

You know how in eroge there’s options to turn off voice for certain characters? Including the male protagonist if they actually voiced him? Yeah. I need that desperately. Too bad you can’t do that for anime, derp.

In other words, I’m officially dropping the shitpile that is Omamori Himari. Why? BECAUSE YUUTO FUCKING REMINDS ME OF MAKOTO EVERY FUCKING TIME HE OPENS HIS MOUTH.

Really. Why couldn’t they have chosen someone more generic or less annoying. I just might be able to persevere through the show if they did. Add to the fact everything about the show screams “low-quality generic fanservice crap” and how much they cheapened Matra Milan’s art style… I don’t think I will actually be able to watch the show at all, but I guess Yuuto’s the final nail in the coffin.

    DROPPED. DROPPED. AND FUCKING DROPPED.

    Dance in the Vampire Bund

    Oh look, it’s Hidamari Bund!

So my expectations (of it being “original”) have come true! Shinbo(kastel) has pretty much rewrote the setup of DitVB and introducing the story in a radically different way.

For instance, Akira has amnesia and doesn’t remember the past 16 years of his life thanks to some accident off-screen. Right.

And the enemies have pretty much become “monster of the week” types. We actually went from a chameleon last week to a spider this week. I will expecting be something with long appendages next week or soon enough just so SHAFT can draw some tentacle porn.

They did keep the “lotion” scene, but it’s pretty LOL here. Tell me, what would justify Mina not looking stupid by asking Akira to slather lotion on her while both are being chased by an AH-64 Apache in the city. Reeks of forced fanservice. Also more like, WHY DID YOU MAKE MINA LOOK LIKE SHE’S STALKING AKIRA.

Man, I hate it when people try adapt by doing original shit and mess it up even more badly than the original work is. Of course, I am biased and all since I read the manga so I guess people fresh to this would find it more interesting since it has loli nipples and shit.

    Dance in the Vampire Bund

Yes, it really has loli nipples.

  • Queen-mode Hanazawa Kana is kinda win
By Admin on January 16th, 2010 | No Comments Comments

    sharon_01

Hanazawa Kana in queen-mode as Sharon Reinsworth is pretty damn win. Makes a refreshing change from the usual roles she generally plays. Too bad she doesn’t do much usually :( .

Pandora Hearts has been quite the engrossing watch despite the slow start and BL-esque elements that sometimes pop up uncomfortably. To be honest, Akira Ishida is totally stealing the show for me with an impressive performance as Xarxes Break. I just love it when he does “Joker” characters that you can’t seem to figure heads or tails with them. Provides perfect foil to the self-hating lead and his overly dedicated servant. Surprisingly, Ayako Kawasumi is rather underutilized here despite being set up as the main plot device.

So far, quite loving the pace of the plot that interleaves serious business drama and light-hearted comedy in a way that sustains your attention. Though I must say I am probably lucky I left this for marathon watching rather than weekly… I would probably have dropped it instead.

  • Ladies bullying Butlers 02
By Admin on January 16th, 2010 | No Comments Comments

    Lady x Butler

    From tsun….

    Lady x Butler

… to dere in a single episode.

Oi, oi, isn’t that a bit too fast of an attitude change, Flameheart-san? I really would appreciate it if you let the tsun fruit ripen a bit longer before maturing to dere.

    Lady x Butler

    Tomomi doesn’t do mornings well.

    Lady x Butler

    Verbal attack. Literally.

    Lady x Butler

    Best part of the episode.

    Lady x Butler

This was so convoluted it wasn’t even funny :| . There should be a limit to how clumsy one person gets!

I didn’t really got to hear the OP properly earlier, but now that I have, I quite like it despite the cheesy Engrish and cherry-pop-ness of the song. I guess it must be because of the combination of Ayako Kawasumi and Mai Nakahara’s voices. ED too is okay, just rather slower.

On the flipside, I am disappointed that evil Tomomi didn’t get much of an appearance, this was mainly centered on Hino and Flameheart duking it out by themselves, with largely no interference from Tomomi. I am surprised they didn’t make her walk in when Hino was getting molested by Shikikagami… though it did tell us the Principal of the school is a real bro. I lol’ed when she gave her seal of approval to Hino… lucky for them, Mikan-sensei wasn’t around. Pretty fucking sure Daichi Kaoru is a reverse trap by now.

Surprisingly not much boobs this time around. It was concentrated mainly on the first 10 seconds of the episode, ahaha. If you’re watching the show for them, you can turn it after when the OP rolls by….

  • Chu Bra 02

    Chu Bra

Damn right! You put that perfectly, Nayu!

    Chu Bra

I’m pretty damn sure there’s a sexual joke in here, I just don’t know how to crack it.

    Chu Bra

On the other hand, this doesn’t need an explanation…

    Chu Bra

I am pretty sure there’s another sexual joke in here too.

    Chu Bra

Holy fuck, Kannazuki no Miko parody. These guys are sure covering all their bases.

    Chu Bra

“Hey, excuse me!” At this rate, Nayu is going to have touched every female chest in the school by the time she graduates.

    Chu Bra

I am sure Shin_Asuka can make a proper joke about this.

    Chu Bra

Read: “Where I can legitimately fondle more chests and asses in the name of ‘club activity’”

P.S. To my British readers, is it true that girls there believe that if they wear red underwear when they confess, love will blossom? I am dying to know if that’s true or just bullshit. Har har.

    So-Ra-No-Wo-To

Most noteworthy event of the episode: Kobayashi Yuu finally employing her shouting skills.

This episode should’ve been titled “Little Girls Playing Soldier” instead.

  • Seikon no Censored 01
By Admin on January 16th, 2010 | No Comments Comments

…. what happened to my lactation scenes?!! Dammit! I guess I’ll just have to wait for the AT-X versions airing on the 26th. Feels like waiting for CLANNAD widescreen, lol.

Anyways, censored scenes aside, not a bad intro to the show. Yuko Sanpei makes Sasha sound GAR and Ayumi Fujimura and Aki Toyosaki team up again for their second consecutive show after Sacred Boobsmith. Only this time no elf lolis. Seems like Ayumi gets pigeonholed a lot in to the “nekketsu-baka” type roles. Well can’t say she doesn’t bring that aspect of her character out better than any one else.

Surprised to hear Minorin again, this time thankfully in her Yuki Nagato-mode although her character is the lactation nun, ahahah. Ayako Kawasumi’s involvement is also another surprise for me and hearing the ED reveals even Hirano Aya’s joining them. Speaking of which, the ED sequence was quite unintentionally hillarious with the bath tub and floating scenes.

Meh, in any case, waiting for the AT-X version is probably the most prudent thing to do with the show now. All the censorship was done quite terribly and I got really lost too. Not like this is gonna be a ground-breaking series anyways.

  • Hanamaru Kindergarten 01
By Admin on January 16th, 2010 | No Comments Comments

    Hanamaru Kindergarten

    Hanamaru Kindergarten

Surprisingly more funnier than it looks like.

I had thought Hanamaru would be:

    A. relying on random, raunchy forced jokes like Kodomo no Jikan. Or,
    B. approaching ’sensitive’ issues with a veneer of drama like Naisho no Tsubomi.

But I’m glad to say it doesn’t. The setting up of the jokes are great and they keep in mind the age-level of the characters in the show (seriously, it is WEIRD to see a 5,6 yr old saying “manko” or writing “nakadashi kibou”) so that it isn’t tasteless.

I wasn’t expecting much from this show, but I’m actually going to say here that this show pretty much exceeded my expectations and I would gladly recommend this show.

Just like a good slice-of-life setup, Hanamaru also relies on the strength of its characters to convey jokes rather than to unnaturally pigeonhole them in to situations that do not realistically happen in real life (for example, KnJ). I quite like this approach to humor myself and I found myself enjoying the show fully throughout.

The seiyuu performances are pretty strong and Satoshi Hino is absolutely perfect as Tsuchida-sensei. I guess he’s doomed to be characters that are hen-pecked in one way or another.

I didn’t like the Potemayo-ish looks of the children at first but even that became a plus point by the end of the episode since it serves to accentuate the contrast between the adults and the kids in to setting up some of the jokes used in the episode.

Anyways, a show well worth checking out and I assure you, this ain’t some “toddler-con shit”!

    Ookamikakushi

    This is awesome.

    Ookamikakushi

    This is not.

    Ookamikakushi

    This is awesome.

    Ookamikakushi

    This is not.

That basically sums up my impression of Ookamikakushi. To be more elaborate, it was 3 minutes of awesome followed by 13 minutes of mediocrity and ended with 4 mins of awesome. So… generally speaking, it was about 65% mediocre. Eroge-introduction stage mediocre. Seriously, those 13 mins made me feel like I’m watchin SHUFFLE! or something. I even started imagining the “decision choices” floating up in the middle of the show.

Well, first off the protagonist doesn’t stand out and even admits to it during the show. Mysteriously enough, he finds himself stuck with a tomboy that’s well hinted to be yandere material. He is also amazingly popular with everyone, to the point it becomes scary. Must be that Horo wolf cult plot device they mentioned in the show.

Girl with scythe and Nemuru are the only impetus for me to continue on. That, and Ryukishi07 behind the storyline. I just hope it doesn’t turn in to a Higurashi clone at the end.

P.S. It’s Kobayashi Yu again. Although she can pull off a boy’s voice, I just can’t help but to expect her going batshit insane at any moment. Yandere Emiri Katou should prove to be interesting as well…
